Trip to Ocean's 11 yesterday

Thanks for your reply, David. The cashier would not sell me any pink $2 chips because, she said, they are not being used at any table games. There is a rule in California, followed by some cared rooms, where if a particular chip is not currently being used by players at tables, the cage will not sell any. If and when some $2 poker game opens up at Ocean's 11, I should be able to buy some pink chips. I forgot about the yellow $10 chips - didn't see any of those at the tables either - so will go back to Ocean's 11 at some future date and try my chip-buying luck again.

Yes, you are right. All the chips have been swapped out for the new ones, which seem to be made by Gemaco. At least that makes it easy to buy, not having to get into "I want the new chiups, not the old ones." Which casino personnel seem to find very confusing.

I actually found one table where pink chips were both in the tray and in the players' area at a table, but the dealer said, "Get away from this table" in an authoritarian voice. Not sure what was going on - instrucdtional game or reserved for VIP's?

$2 chips are generally “drop” chips
