CCA HALL OF FAME

When Rich Burgel reminded me of the book I did long ago “Fabulous Las Vegas in the 50’s” it got me thinking. Bob Meara, early club member and retail store owner and certainly a promoter of our club and hobby was an early inductee into the club’s hall of fame. Rich Burgel has owned and operated five retail operations all focused on casino collectibles. He promoted the club, shows and the hobby. He did this 24/7 in the Gaming and Entertainment Capitol of the World. His store at the Tropicana was amazing as were all of his other ventures. The Casino Legends Hall of Fame had over two million visitors during the seven years it was open. That’s a lot of exposure! Bottom line, there needs to be some consistency in how people are inducted. I am not in the Hall of Fame either and probably wouldn’t even accept it at this point as it is simply too little too late. But looking at history Rich Burgel deserves to be inducted. There are many very deserving members of our club that also need to be inducted. Too much politics for a group of folks that claim they all just want to have fun. I have received hundreds of comments, private emails and texts from friends and club members. However not one board member has said thank you for sharing these stories. Shame on them! Thank God our membership is stepping up to the plate and taking control of this club we all love.
