Instead of thinking of it being an image, I think of it as being a file. I donate a file to the MOGH's ChipGuide. The ChipGuide admins make changes to that file such as cropping it, cleaning it up, adjusting the brightness/contrast, etc. Now that they have made changes to it, the ChipGuide owns it. I still own the file that resides on my hard drive or smartphone and I can use it as I see fit...
