Midway Chuck Wagon chips appear from time-to-time (one chip at a time) in collections and for sale. A question many of us have (well, me anyway) is - why the different colors? I had once guessed that the color related to the free meal offered - each day of the week, a different color; or red was for beef, yellow for chicken, etc. But that whimsical theory does not seem to be borne out by any facts. Also, do you know just how a patron would receive a free-meal chip? Buy a meal, get one free? - that sort of promotion.
The price of $80 seems high for any Midway chip but maybe someone was trying to get one of every color in his collection and lacked an orange one. I have bought a Midway chip at Kobey's Swap Meet in San Diego for $1. That chip didn't travel far!
Thanks for any information you can provide, and for checking in on this forum.
