That was before sports books went corporate and always had to ‘balance the books’. Sports books don’t want to gamble anymore. Too risky.

Back then they would book their own bets and didn’t use services like all the corporate run books do today.

The best bet ever on horse racing was the House Quinella that was offered all over Vegas until the mid 90’s.

Hard to believe that sports books would actually ‘book’ their own bets..lol.

I believe the the last non pari-mutual race book left Vegas about 20 years ago..
