Re: Le Cercle "Dr No" £1000 plaque.
In Response To: Le Cercle "Dr No" plaques. ()

These were the ones in the worst condition and we didn't expect any to be in a decent enough condition to be saved but there were a small handful that hadn't totally fallen to pieces. Most of the centres had comes away from the rest of the plaque plus they smell awful. We put them in a bag and covered them over which helped a little in the 530 miles trip back home but we still had the windows open all of the way.
Only 100 made although only 2 were seen in Dr No (and only if you know where to look).

You wouldn't know they are in the film unless you knew they actually existed.
As there was £35,000 in plaques delivered to the film set I know that they were many that weren't used and would only be speculating on which amounts of each were sent.
There were some of these used on the yacht too (stamped in gold at the top) and some of the lower values probably were too. The deterioration of lots of the £50s could be due to the sea air as many are "salty" looking but, again, speculation.
Just the last set of plaques to be shown now although there were many more Les A/Le Cercle items in the find that may be of interest but I think I put most of them up at the beginning when first showing and offering them on the board.
