NCR: Good luck, Mr. Gorsky
In Response To: July 20, 1969 Moonlanding ()

I know this story has been proven false by snopes.com, but it's too wonderful not to share.

When Astronaut Neil Armstrong first walked on the moon, he not only gave his famous “One small step for man” remark, but followed it with conversations with Mission Control and the other astronauts. Before he re-entered the lander, he made an enigmatic remark.

“Good luck, Mr. Gorsky.”

Many at NASA thought it a casual remark about a rival Soviet Cosmonaut. However, upon checking, there was no Gorsky in either the Russian or American space programs.

Over the years, many people have questioned Armstrong as to what “Good luck, Mr. Gorsky” meant, but never responded. One day, while answering questions following a speech, a reporter brought up the question. He finally responded. Mr. Gorsky had died, so Armstrong felt he could answer the question.

When he was a kid, Neil was playing baseball with his brother in the backyard. His brother hit a ball that landed in front of Mr. and Mrs. Gorsky's bedroom window. As he leaned down to pick up the ball, he heard Mrs. Gorsky shouting at Mr. Gorsky, “Oral sex? Oral sex you want? You’ll get oral sex when the kid next door walks on the moon!”
