My impresssion is that once Paul-Son started their own factory production of the chips in the early 1970s, they could sell compressed clay chips cheaper than other distributors who had their chips (with different mold designs) manufactured at the Burt Co.

When Paul-son started to move chip production to Mexico in the 1980s, they could reduce costs even more, pushing the other gaming supply distributors out of the clay chip business.
