Re: My own favorite Packard story...

Thank you very much, Mr. Bartley.

I will tell you this...driving a Packard once was enough for me. My old man bought a 1927 Model T Ford - and the first thing he did was put power steering in it! That old Packard had ARM STRONG power steering! I can't imagine driving that thing cross country for anything short of marrying Kate Upton!! I can use my out loud voice to say that, and I'll give you three guesses why!! mad

Those guys in Grass Valley might have been able to get that old Packard running, but the bill would probably have been about 5x more than it was worth. Ralph knew his cars and if he couldn't get it running, then it's too bad he didn't have the tower just take it directly to Grass Valley. It needed A LOT of work on the inside. The driver's seat was a wood box that doubled as the housing for the car battery! The outside was in fantastic shape! It was a very beautiful car. I'm sure if you Ralph's wife, she would point you to it and would probably give it to you for $.01. Maybe you could get it towed and fixed in Grass Valley. Do it in Ralph's memory, eh? vbg
