I'll add a little more.
I gladly pay the separate licence fees for each forum even though they make up 40% of my costs because the licence holder is a friend and the funds go towards his home charity of caring for deaf or blind rescue dogs from Belgium, France, Hungary & Germany.
The actual fees I pay to the hosting company alone are a mere $38 month for all I listed in the previous post because I maintain everything myself (and have pretty much automated that).
The backup server is separate - not even the same hosting company. I wrote my own scripts to automate that. Ordinarily this would require a 'managed dedicated' server as the hosting companies like to call it. Yes, they can cost $200-$300 a month, but I can do their work in 10 minutes a month at most so only need to cough up $38.
Yes, if I have to switch boxes then it's a bit of work as all I get for the money is an empty Plesk container but I know what I'm doing with it.
