Revisiting the Algiers Hotel on the strip

Opened in 1953 and sister hotel to the Thunderbird the owner was Marion Hicks who also owned the Thunderbird ... same architect & contractor who built the El Cortez the Thunderbird and the Algiers hotel using the same materials and look ... Marion hicks wanted to offer hotel rooms to people that did not want to walk through a casino and hear the noise and all the glitter, so he built this one next-door that was quiet for families had a nice pool, but yet he got all the casino business with promotions for the guests ...

I got a call one day from a manager saying they're closing and they're having a sale so I ran down there and purchased all the room keys, match books, menus, postcards anything with the name on it... And that was about 20 years ago now the Algiers is gone and it's part of the fountainblue hotel property .... Enjoy the pictures thanks for reading .... Rich Burgel
