El Morocco Club Las Vegas Casino History!

Today we talk about the El Morocco Club and New El Morocco Club that was located in Las Vegas from the years of 1945 up until 1964. It was located on the old westside of Las Vegas which back in the day was known more for being the area for people of color. They were not allowed in the casinos on the strip or in downtown so they went ahead and set up their own casinos and clubs. Which made that area of town very popular and it gave them an area to gamble, enjoy some entertainment and enjoy their time. At the El Morocco club sometimes Louis Armstrong, Sammy Davis Jr & Frank Sinatra would go to play music or just to have a good time. The club did very well up until 1955, but closed. The building was sitting for two years abandoned and getting vandalized so the city condemned the building and razed it. The New El Morocco opened in 1957 and it would run until 1964. I've always loved learning about the history of the old westside and still of course want to learn more and teach others about it. I feel like it is a piece of Vegas history that most people don't think about.

Hope you all enjoyed this video and if you have any memories, know of any stories or have anything from the El Morocco feel free to share!
