These Appeared In Early 90s
In Response To: Princess Chips here... ()

My wife and I are at the highest loyalty level on Princess Cruises, and traveled all over the world on the cruise line's many splendid ships. The three chips below were purchased from an EBAYER for Lafayette, LA for less than $5. Her story sounds believable, but after all these cruises no casino manager could ever confirm that these chips were ever in play on any Princess ship. She said she received them at a "Fun Night Party" while aboard the Grand Princess, which at one time was home ported in Galveston, TX. We sailed several transatlantic cruise aboard Grand Princess, and no one could remember these poorly-made, sticker chips ever being in circulation aboard the Grand. Early Princess ships did offer "Game Night Chips," but the were just hot stamped gold without the Princess Seawitch logo. They were played on several blackjack tables in a tournament format of eight hands with the passenger with the highest chip total making a final table for the championship final table of eight.
As a Princess collector, I am inclined to believe these sticker chips are fakes, but can't definitely attest to their authenticity. They have two Seawitch logos on both sides, are made of plastic and used a 8-Suits, Horseshoe mold. No mold like that ever used on the Princess' ships.
