NCR... HOT - Anybody in Sicily ?

I often visited Sicily in 1962-63, via the railway ferry from Villa San Giovanni, while I was in Napoli, which was about twice a month and, one day after a long wait before the train cars would board a message was announced that it was too hot to travel over (118°F), and though there were always other Europeans and some Americans on board, it appeared I was the only American this time except for maybe one other person who was reading fhe Daily News, a NYC tabloid. Sadly, it was a little too late in the season for the Calabrese Orange (they are oval) for vendors to come on board while singing Calabrese Oranges in Italian. The cultivar does not grow anywhere else except for a small area in the region of Calabria.

The CNN article reminded me of that one day in August...
