In Response To: Re: Is ebay dropping Paypal? ()

PayPal just announced 32 pages of price "adjustments" (mainly increases) for sellers. They need to make up for the revenue they used to get from Ebay sellers like me. They are still a convenient processor for my website payments, but now their fees exceed what traditional banking outlets charged for handling credit card payments. I don't have the time to switch to a different system (I would have to edit about 500 "add to cart" button codes), but the time may come if PayPal spirals much further.

The amazing thing is that Ebay owned PayPal until spinning it off, and now they are determined to kill it. It will be interesting to see if PayPal shareholders sue Ebay for selling them a lot of promise in the spinoff that turned out to be quite hollow. At first, when they went to the Dutch company they did not intend to accept PayPal for anything on Ebay, but they changed their minds. I wonder how early Ebay knew it could make money selling off PayPal and then turn to another company to handle payment processing to get a second bit at that apple.
