BCA - #3 My Stay at the Cromwell Las Vegas NCR

I retired 20 years ago in 2001 and have traveled extensively all over the Unite States and Canada since my retirement. Prior to this year's Convention I had stayed in EVERY Harrah's/Caesars Casino Hotel in the US and Canada except the Cromwell in Las Vegas. To finish off my "Bucket List" I made arrangements to stay at the Cromwell for 5 days during the Convention. I was able to score a "Comped" room for June 14 thru June 19. I was excited to stay at the Cromwell as I had heard good things about it. The Cromwell is a small boutique Hotel with only 180 rooms. When I arrived there was no valet parking, so I dropped my bags with a bellman and went and parked my rental car. I checked in and everything was fine and then the "Bucket List" experience began to unravel. The first room that they gave me was not cleaned so the bellman and I had to go back downstairs and get another room. They were very nice about the mix up and gave me a $75 hotel comp to make up for the mistake. We went to the next room and unloaded my bags - I thought I was good to go but that was not the case. The room was very warm and it appeared the A C was not working properly. I called down and they sent up a maintenance man who got the A C running properly. OK, I'm all set - right - no it was not to be !! I noticed that my nose was getting extremely clogged up and I was having a hard time breathing. I look around the room to see what was causing the problem. I noticed a strong smell of leather. I noticed that there was leather everywhere in the room. The headboard and foot board on the bed were leather, there was a large leather couch in the room and even the fronts of the drawers were covered with leather. I went down to the front desk and they could tell my head was clogged when I spoke to them. I explained the problem with the leather and asked if they had any rooms without an over abundance of leather - they said unfortunately no !! They scrambled around and were able to find me a room at Paris for my 5 day stay. I asked the desk clerk for some kind of proof that I had actually "stayed" at the Cromwell even though it was only for about 2 1/2 hours. He printed me out the document below for my records and I went on to Paris were I had a very enjoyable 5 day stay. My "Bucket List" was technically complete !!
Since Caesars merged or whatever with Eldorado, I now have another challenge to stay at ALL the Eldorado/Caesars properties. I got a little head start on that when I stayed at the Silver Legacy in Reno for a couple of days the week before I came down to Vegas. Thinking back I have also stayed at a few other former Eldorado properties (probably around 6 or 8) over the years so my challenge may not be impossible to complete.
Take care,
Jerry "Nice to Complete a Bucket List" Birl
