I hate this happened to you, but I would reiterate, don't let one person or transaction ruin your whole weekend, I know it sucks, but in the grand scheme of things, it's a small thing. I think it's cool that Jerry offered to reimburse you. That probably doesn't happen in many places. Think about all the great things you did purchase and the people you met. For my first convention, I had a blast. It was nice meeting some of the people I'd been buying from in person and realizing that my wife was wrong, I'm not crazy for collecting casino chips!
