Special Disclaimer and Information

Some of the chips offered here may be “samples” and or “prototypes” which may NOT have actually been in play at the various Casinos. There was an investigation into a dispute about how a few of these chips were produced, marketed and presented for sale about 20 years ago. This information is well documented in the CCA records. Former Club Member Mel Jung was expelled from the CCGTCC as a result of a complaint lodged by Dean Porter over this dispute.

Dean Porter’s notes and comments about these chips are attached to almost all of the chips being offered here. You can read the cards that are presented here. These notes also contain information on when and from whom the chips were originally purchased. There is also a code that tells what Dean paid for the various chips, but I have not been able to figure the code out.

These chips are being offered as I had purchased them, and I do not guarantee when or how all of these chips were made or used.

I have looked at the chips as carefully as I can, and I believe the vast majority of these chips were produced for and used on the tables at the various Casinos or as samples for Casino approval.

By a strange twist of fate, 25 years ago in 1996 on a trip to Northern Nevada for my 50th birthday I witnessed the purchase of many of the $100 and $500 chips in this collection. A fellow collector who was with me on the trip purchased these high value chips from several casinos, and later sold them to Dean Porter. Little did I know I would end up acquiring these exact same chips from Dean Porter’s estate !!

I further believe that these chips have a significant historical value to our Hobby which gives them an added importance and value.

Many of these chips are “one of a kind” and worthy of being in the most advanced collections.

The “provenance” of these chips being from the Dean Porter Collection also adds additional value to these chips

You will have to decide for yourself if you want to include these very unique and special chips in your collection. Many of these chips have not been offered to collectors in well over 20 years and you may not see them offered again for many, many years.

Take care,
Jerry
