Sal Sagev Las Vegas Casino History!

Happy Memorial Day everyone! Today we talk about another early early casino that was located in downtown Las Vegas. It's the Sal Sagev, which is Las Vegas spelled backwards. It was open from 1931-1934 and originally was opened as the Hotel Nevada back in 1906. It was a two story 35 room corner building which cost $1 to stay in one of the 10 x 10 foot rooms that were completed with electric lighting and steam radiators. Inside of the lobby there was a cigar store and the recipient of Vegas' first telephone service in 1907. Ironically the phone number was 1, being the first! It is today's Golden Gate Casino. Opened by Abe Miller this place has an unknown history, but it's something that most people do not know about. There are roulette chips out there and apparently a second set of chips with denominations on them which have yet to be found. Hope you enjoy!
