Weekend Finds in San Diego

It was sort of an "off day" for chip-hunting. I was not feeling 100% and arrived around 12:30 when vendors were already starting to pack up. (Maybe they weren't feeling well either?) Still I managed to find a few items. And three boxes of blueberries at the sacrifice sale price of just a dollar. There is a glut of blueberries this year due to favorable climate conditions so look for lots of blueberry juice, blueberry muffins and blueberry pies in the face in the near future. (Your chance of the latter is enhanced if you come anywhere near the Three Stooges.)

The Labadee Doubloon was sold onboard Royal Caribbean ships bringing vacationers on an excursion to a private island in Haiti. You bought a sack of gold doubloons* and once ashore, you could buy run-and-coconut drinks, after which you really wouldn't be feeling well, but it just didn't matter. Sort of a precursor to the beads used by Club Med.

* OK, OK, the coins are brass. But that's worth its weight in gold in Haiti.
