Hundreds of thousands of obsolete chips destroyed

This should give us a pretty good idea as to how many chips were destroyed by just one operator in the UK, in a matter of two to three years; 30-years ago, without even thinking of prior to 1992, and onward after 1992... and exactly how rare some of those chips might be that walked or escaped destruction by being put in a desk drawer or wherever, to be discovered decades later...
