One point re the Sphinx Club
In Response To: Sphinx Club c&s for sale ()

If the condition of the chips resulted from play at the club, I would surmise that the Sphinx was a run down hole in the wall joint. What kind of gambling establishment would allow their chips to be used as ashtrays.

Then again, maybe the chips were brought home and used for home games where ashtrays was not an essential item.

Anyway most all of my chips are in similar, cigarettes stained condition.
