I remember patronizing both those places in the early 70s, in fact I had an apartment across
the street from the Virginia St. location. They were originally owned by Pete Cladianos of Sands
Hotel fame. He acquired the Virginia St. location in the late 30s when it was Farley's Dude Ranch.
The motel rooms were converted stables where George Wingfield kept his racehorses. I remember
they were made of stone. Pete Cladianos Jr. oral history is an excellent history of old Reno bars
and clubs
