Nevada Club

The Nevada Club video brought back a few memories. I spent many hours playing the old Jennings
slots some of which still had 1960 Winter Olympic glass in them. Nobody (except Silver Dollar) had
Jennings, every body else used Pace machines. There were two lower levels in the NC as well as a
second story. Fitzgerald and his wife lived in a third floor apartment which was reached by a narrow
stairway. There was a steel door at the top with no door knob. One of them was always inside to let
the other in. I remember seeing Meta walk their two dogs around Reno early in the morning. The NC
had the only single 0 wheel in town. There were two layouts with the wheel in the middle and it got a
lot of action. LaVere Redfield played big money there. I remember playing coins on one of the crap
tables. Fitz did all the hiring. A friend of mine applied for a change girl job and the only question he
asked was: "Do you drink wine?" She said no and was hired. I used to watch him do the "drop"- he
did each table, taking the box to the cage and watched the cashier count the money. One time I
asked him if he had any old chips laying around. He said he did but couldn't get them just then.
If you have further interest I recommend these two books. The Redfield book is especially good.
