~~~ French MOP, or any other MOP... and I'm curious if it is an earlier style than what we normally see on a finished edge; such as the octagon with the same CM monogram.

Both chips are the same thickness, so it is not a matter of the round being recycled with a shaved and plain face on the reverse.

Has anyone ever seen this, before..?
