I am helping the family of a former chip collector who passed away to dispose of his collection. He has a lot of $1, $5, $25 chips from all over the Country. I know a lot of chips from closed and even open Casinos are no longer cashable - like the Palms, Hard Rock, Tropicana etc.
But my question is which chips are still cashable ?? I think if we had a Master list or data base this would help a lot of collectors at least get face value for some of their dups and chips they no longer collect or they are trying to dispose of.
As an example - Over the years I have cashed in a lot of Atlantic City chips for collectors from other parts of the Country who have sent chips to me to redeem and I have sent them the proceeds.
Maybe this could be a feature in the Chip Guide ??
I know we have collectors from all over the Country that could help with this project as they have knowledge of their local Casino chip redemption policies.
Here are some areas that need to be included in the " Currently Redeemable/Cashable" Chip Listings.
Nevada - Las Vegas - Reno and all the rest of the State.
California
Colorado
Atlantic City
Riverboats - multiple States
Indian Casinos - Multiple States
Deadwood
Other States - Ney York, Pennsylvania, Conn., Delaware, Maryland, etc.
The Master List of "Cashable" chips obviously would need to be updated as things change.
LMK what you think of this idea if it is doable, practical and how can we set up the List and update it.
Take care,
Jerry
