A new surcharge kicks in today and last until December 27. Expect to pay about 25 cents extra on first class packages shipped using commercial shipper rates (which covers Ebay, Stamps.com, and PayPal postage), and more on priority mail. Letter rates are not affected. In addition, if you go to the counter at the post office, you are already paying higher rates but will not pay the surcharge,

This is a "holiday surcharge," and I believe the first in the Post Office's history.
