Thanks for the input and I suppose it is possible but 2/6 is how 2 and a half shillings was usually written (half a crown) so I can't see why they would make up a different way unless it is a realllly Olde World jeton which I doubt.
As I said, never seen it written that way before but at the moment, I still prefer my thinking.
