CURT SQUIRES: HOW DID WE MEET?
In Response To: CURT SQUIRES: HOW DID WE MEET? ()

I met Curtis in the Trade Sessions Room at the first convention at the South Point. That was the year I lost or thought someone had ripped off my pencil black light I used for checking chip markings. Curt arranged his traders according to the TCR letter values A-$2-4 etc. I thought that was a lot of work, tried to engage him in conversation to figure out why he did it. Mean time I was look all over and telling everyone of my lost black light. I had planned on leaving a couple of chip cases (suit case types) at the last dance in the trade session room. When I asked the handful of guys and gals that remained late that Saturday night if anyone was interested in having them for free; Curtis piped up and said I will take 'em, I need 'em.
Upon arriving back in Tennessee, where Nancy and I lived at that time I got an email from Curtis saying that doo dad that you were looking for, is it about six inches long and have a clip like an ink pen? I said absolutely, he then proceeded to explain to me that it had fell down through the lining of the case I left for him. Right then and there I knew I had a valuable friend, and each convention we got to know each better. Every year after that he insisted on picking me and Nancy up at the air port and delivering us back when we left. He wouldn't take anything for doing that. I tried every year to buy him and Diane a meal. I managed to do it two or three times over the years. He was a Prince of a man. He will be missed so very much, Reggie
