The Mountain Pass Rare Earth Mine!

If he's interested in rocks and minerals - only rare-earth mine in the USA. Most folks wouldn't know a chunk of praseodymium if it hit them on the head. Not sure the mine offers any tours, though. The giant solar-power complex nearby at Ivanpah Lake.

Searchlight? - was a gold-mining town with some mine ruins still visible.

Goodsprings? - another old mining town a bit off the beaten path.

Mount Charleston, if he's into skiing.

Creech Air Force Base at Indian Springs where you can fly your drone with the pro's. KID-DING!

OUCH! Just got hit on the head by a chunk of . . . not praseodymium . . . must be neodymium. That stuff's prickly!
