Casino Pauma Buffet permanently closed
In Response To: Vegas ()

Maybe not everyone's California go-to buffet, but the reasonably-priced Casino Pauma Buffet ("The Grove") is no more. Went down there this afternoon, since I'd heard restaurants in San Diego County are again open - this is true but the dining is now a sit-down experience catered by the existing Pauma Cafe next door. That is, you are seated in the old Buffet dining area (beneath the fake orange tree, truly a place of wonder) but you order from the Cafe menu and your food is brought over to you. Reasonably enough priced, but yes, I always liked the buffet style where I could pile up olives, kim chi, and cherry tomatoes on a plate and declare that an Oriental Salad, choose how much or how little of a dish I wanted, dump a little more cream sauce over the baked fish, etc., etc.

A sign at the entrance of the dining area announces that a Mexican Grill is to open on the former Buffet premises. I don't like Grilled Mexicans, they are tough and stringy. And usually too spicy.
