A Lot More Info on Diamond Square "Mould" !!

Shown below are pages on various chip "Moulds" from Bill Borland's Blue Book of Casino Chips and Gaming Tokens that was published in 1988. This probably the first attempt at cataloging and naming various chip moulds. By the way mould and mold are merely variations of the spelling of the same word. I guess Borland liked to use more letters in his spelling for some reason.

Around 1995 Howard Herz published a Catalog of Nevada Chips and Cheques which included his version of the different chip molds and names - I think Howdy should be the one to discuss his Catalog and how he developed his chip Mold names, etc.

Please see Mould #32 and the corresponding description for details on the Diamond Square Mould. It looks like this Mould was used by at least 5 different chip distributors - Hunt & Co., Noll, Portland Card Co., White's Club Room Equipment, and Pioneer Club Supply. I think this is what is called an "open" Mold which was not restricted to use by a single Distributor - someone else may add some info on this procedure.

As far as I know, Robert Eisenstadt did not create the various Mold names and #s but he compiled them on his reference site and grouped them together by design categories.

Take care,
Jerry
