Pam, Lew Hymers was one of my favorite historical characters. In 1944 he self published a book
of artwork he did of his columns for the Reno paper. Interestingly, there are no (maybe 1 or 2)
casino people in it. In fact he hated the proliferation of clubs in Reno. Unfortunately there is no
index or pagination in the book. It is kind of rare, tough to find. By the way, the chip and match-
book depiction of "The Riding Lesson" was not done by Hymers but by local artist Robert Cole Caples.
He and Walter Van Tilburg Clark were best friends and drinking buddies.
