A story from the Holiday Casino...
In Response To: Holiday Las Vegas stuff... grin ()

...I have told this story a few times. Can’t remember if I told it here though. I moved here to Las Vegas in February, 1980. Back in the early to late 80’s I played a lot of poker at the Imperial Palace. All I did in those years was play poker or pool. When there was a list to get into a game at the IP or the game was not good, I would walk next door to the Holiday Casino. Gene Trimble’s first job here in Las Vegas was at the Holiday Casino as a poker dealer. Although we became friends, we did not meet until about 1992, when he was the poker room manager at the Four Queens.

Anyway, one day in early 1981 I walked over to the Holiday Casino from the IP. I get into a $5-$10 7-Card Stud game. About an hour into the game I end up with a Royal Flush on 6th street & of course win the pot. I asked the floor man if I got anything for the Royal. Thinking maybe I would at least get a food company. The floor man said yes & reached over to his tall desk to grab something. He then throws a matchbook in front of me & says...”You win the house lighter.” 😳 I guess I should have kept it, Pam. It was 39 years ago. Probably one of the ones you showed in your post. 😆
