Harolds Club, something to ponder

Harolds Club, under Pappy's (Raymond Ingraham) leadership many innovations were introduced to the
gambling public including women dealers, billboard advertising, scholarships, and give-aways to
name a few. He also erected a 38x72 foot mural proclaiming "Dedicated in all Humility to Those
Who Blazed the Trail". The question is, was it a thinly veiled tribute to the Smith family for all
their originality? At least one writer of the day and probably a few locals thought so. At least the
thing was saved and is on display at the Washoe County fairgrounds. By the way, the mural on the
Westerner Club in Las Vegas was done by the same people.
