I have seen many, many chips sitting at flea markets in open sunlight and they tend to warp more than fade. (They do both, but seem to warp more first.)

I think this chip was exposed for a long time in a display case. The hole looks faded and the light must of reflected a little to lighten up on the other side of the hole a little bit too.
