for sale$12 8 old rare 1900 monarch HEART poker chips

*fs* $12 for 8 different (only $1.50 per chip!) rare, old (c. 1900) heart inlaid poker chips with raised monarch rim, plus $2.99 postage to US addresses. PayPal OK (email me first). Return privileges. (Monarch mold poker chips have a raised molded circular rim (like half a tire inner tube), and usually an inlay in the center.)

I just bought some of these at auction. Offering them here first.

Pictures below are from Seymour's "Antique Gambling Chips" book (1985). The chip is given "value 7" in the book -- "Uncommon, Very Collectible." That is the highest poker chip rating for non-ivory chips. The chip is pictured in the 1900 Harris catalog (page reproduced in the Seymour book). Looks like they stopped making "monarch" chips soon after that, certainly not in modern times. The LONG red arrow points to the monarch chip with a club inlay. They also made them for all thee suits (spade, heart and diamond). The SHORT red arrow points to a description of the MONARCH chips. There they call them the "most durable check." They explain that the raised monarch rim causes all this: "the center [of the chip] doesn't touch one another." This "avoids [the chips] sticking together," so you have a "live check" that makes "stacking" "perfect."
