try using a super fine wire...like beading wire, maybe, cut into 3"-4" pieces. Once your swizzles are in position, use a needle to poke holes in the foam core, then use the wire like a twist-tie. That would be a lot easier than threading the needle, and trying to tie it off, every few swizzles.
