Re: Got my RARE, Quarter Eagle 2½ + Three Leaves

Other than the $2½ coinage, I have never seen a 2½ Ivory chips or even read of one.

Been collecting since 1990; found 37 new Ivory codes (and lost out on many more) ...and not only never saw a 2½, but never saw that "crescent" rim design.

Even if one were to consider the "Three Leaves" a common design (there are many variations), there isn't anything known with this crescent rim.

Which suggests the chips were not blank, stock slugs to later be customized... and that the whole set/inventory was made to order and for a game/establishment closely associated with gold and where coinage was a preference over paper money; such as out West. Thus my feeling there is also a "10" along with the other usual denominations found with Ivories.

I found nothing, nowhere, even coming close to suggesting any 2½ was used on any game or even offered for sale by major Ivory chip manufacturers.
