If we assume the second letter is a C (Grand Cercle) as we know in several older French and European monograms (along with the big G as well) then the first letter is a G, as in the old General Foods logo.

...and, if so, maybe Hanover's GBP is actually CBP from a period (maybe) the style letter was common as this same style P with the exttended foot.
