September 2020 SS-SNCCC Report...

In memory of and tribute to Sheldon Smith, presented here is the SNCCC Monthly Meeting Report for September 2020. These Reports were previously provided by SNCCC Honorary Life Member (0002), the late Sheldon Smith.

The SNCCC Meeting for September was quite an experience, given the current conditions amid the COVID pandemic. The Gold Coast Hotel and Casino is to be thanked for providing the Club with ample meeting space to maintain social distancing (see the pics). There were about 27 RSVP's, of which 25 were present. We had several walk-in's, which brought our total number of attendees to 28, just slightly below our typical average.

A majority of the evening's activities was recorded and broadcast, via Facebook Live, through the technical assistance of Ron Gaudette and can be viewed on-line at the SNCCC's Facebook page. The live auction started promptly at 6:45, with 100% sales of the advertised 22 Lots. As we often do, some members bring in additional items, for the auction, and time permitting, those items are offered to the attendees and if you are quick enough, by viewing on Facebook and texting a proxy bid to me! SNCCC President Jerry Vergatos, brought in 6 additional Lots (all slot glass) for the auction and all-in-all, the auction provided a good result for the SNCCC. We thank our live bidders and Proxy Bidders.

The meeting did not plan for a Guest Speaker, but we were treated to a "story" of his dealing Baccarat, in the early days of Atlantic City's legalization of casinos, by Rich Burgel. It was very interesting and fun, and I hope it is included in the Facebook feed. Thanks Rich.

Next up was the Meeting "Call to Order", for which Reports from the Secretary (Jim Follis), Treasurer (Terri Lonski) and Membership (Pam Focazio) were given. We addressed Old Business (cancellation of the SNCCC Roadtrip and refunds). New Business was addressed, James Hogg's "Kid's Program", the AZ Chas Show has been cancelled, Steve Palumbo discussed how refunds or carry-overs to 2021 are being handled for the cancelled 2020 CCA Convention and Chipsets, intended to commemorate the now cancelled SNCCC Roadtrip, were offered for sale at $5 for the set of 5 chips. The Roadtrip has been moved to next Spring. Lastly, an update to the Boyd Gaming, Fabulous Stardust Project, through the MoGH, was discussed. The search for tourist photographs of the Stardust continues.

The Meeting was adjourned at 8:03 pm, at which point a Members Only Raffle was conducted (prizes provided by Rich Burgel, thanks Rich). This was followed by the 50/50 Raffle and Donated Prizes Raffle.
