COMING SOON…

GUEST AUTHORS OF HARVEST ADVENTURES

SEVERAL YEARS AGO, I STARTED HAVING A GUEST AUTHOR AND HIS/HER HARVEST STORY AS OFTEN AS I COULD.
AT THIS WRITING I ONLY HAVE APPROXIMATELY 60 + STORIES TO SHARE. I AM HOPING THAT A FEW MORE AUTHORS WILL STEP UP TO THE PLATE, AND THESE VERY PROLIFIC “CHIPPERS” WILL COME UP WITH A FEW MORE. I WILL CONTINUE TO RUN THESE STORIES THROUGH THE COMING YEAR. AND ADD STORIES AS THE CHIPBOARD ROLLS ALONG.
THESE STORIES ARE ALWAYS INFORMATIVE AND USUALLY HAVE A BIT OF TONGUE AND CHEEK HUMOR.
LET’S SHARE WITH OTHERS DIFFERENT WAYS OF HARVESTING, THE TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS THAT WE HAVE FACED OUT THERE WHILE WE WERE HARVESTING. YES, I WILL BE INSERTING SOME OF MY ADVENTURES, TOO. THESE WILL BE DISPLAYED IRREGULARLY, JUST FOR THE HECK OF IT... TAG THESE STORIES WITH ANY FACTUAL INFO, PERSONAL VIEWPOINTS, OR GRAMMERICAL MISTAKES YOU NOTICE.
THANK YOU FOR READING THE FUTURE HARVEST ADVENTURES.

Here is one to start with:

A GUEST AUTHOR’s HARVEST STORY

SAN RAFAEL CLUB (881 CLUB) SAN RAFAEL, CA

J Eric Freedner

Hi, Reggie,

Here is another chipping story, all true of course!

I had heard that it was difficult to buy a chip from the San Rafael Club in San Rafael; it was a small cardroom, limited hours, and management did not favor selling to collectors. Still, toward the end of one of my chip trips to the Petaluma area several years ago, I decided to give it a try. I had gotten the club address before starting my trip, which is fortunate because the 881 Club is not at number 881 on any street any more. My internet search led me to a brief history of the club, started by Pete Pellolio years ago.

Upon entering the building, I paused in the foyer between the bar and the cardroom to look at a portrait on the wall. Unexpectedly, a man came to the cardroom doorway and asked, "May I help you?"

"Is this Pete?" I said somewhat absent-mindedly, pointing to the portrait. "Yes," he replied, "Did you know Pete?"

"No," I replied, "but I heard he had started the club years ago, and kept the business going for many years, and was respected in the community."

"Want to play some cards?" the man asked.

"Actually, no; I was wondering if I could just buy a few chips, I collect them."

The man gave a non-committal look and then smiled. "We have a strict policy, no sales to collectors. But since you spoke so highly of my father, I can sell you a few."

My visit ended with a hearty handshake and a smile from the new owner, and his invitation to "come back any time." And a few of the elusive Club San Rafael chips in my pocket.

Sometimes, it pays to admire the artwork.

Don't have time to drive up to San Rafael to see Pete's portrait? I didn't know this chip existed at the time, but you can view it here: ChipGuide # CG 023545.

Extra! Extra! Chipboard Chippers, Please Read

A Letter to the Chippers that frequent the Chip Board November 16, 2019

Hello Chippers, what I have say comes with a sad heart; (yeah, you’re right not that sad lol) please know that all of my selling & trading chip inventory have been sold to another “Chipper Extraordinaire” Paul Schaffer.
AKA as Rubes Casino Chips, I heartily recommend him. Give his web site a try (See below). Paul has been working hard at our convention setting the World’s Largest Chip Collection record. Paul is a member of the CCA since 2008. He is a personal friend; and has been for many years.
Please know the POD will be no more; as of now. The transition and clean up of the my Chip Query traders will take some time (several months), with that being said please know that this (POD) Page of the Day will be the last one.
To my regulars that have hold service and still have chips on hold. I have your items and can give you a list of them any time you want to know you have saved.
Please know, that I still have the post cards and will be showing them, along with items of my collection that I will be selling, and consigned items that I will be posting on the CB.
I still collect. Listed in order of priority MT, small town NV, CA and Canada.
And above all, though I am not done yet, I want thank all of my POD customers, traders and everything in between; for all of the fun business that you have thrown my way.
