1969 Bahama Adventure - Free!

Just 19 years old and full of vinegar .... I left Miami on a 727 Eastern Airlines a free flight to Freeport Bahamas ....I remember having less than $40 on me for the whole weekend I had to get pretty creative. For something to eat I remember crashing a poolside convention party cocktails hors d’oeuvres buffet I kind of just blended in with the crowd and was well behaved and well fed ...I did tip the servers so they wouldn’t become suspicious....I remember eating conch fritters as an appetizer and yellow bird cocktails made with dark rum.

The El Casino was my first time in a real casino .... I was not old enough to get in so I wore sunglasses and wore a turtleneck shirt I was a big kid I could pass for being 21. The casino dealers were all from England and wore beautiful tuxedos very formal I felt out of place and under dressed so what the heck a few cocktails and I felt just fine.... it was very exotic I remember it only opened at night ... no locals were allowed in and you had to wear a sports jacket which I did not have, so they loaned me one. I watched the play at a blackjack table after about 20 minutes a seat became available and I sat down and put up my five dollars I won the hand took the chip and left the table .... I said this is a great addition to my small collection . I returned the jacket and left the casino and headed towards the local bars in Freeport ....I remember returning to the international Hotel grabbing a few towels and sleeping out on the lounge chair in the pool the noise of the seagulls woke me up .... They had a complementary juice coffee donut bar which I indulged .... I changed into my bathing suit and headed towards the beach later that day I flew home where I lived in Miami Beach I was so happy to bring home my $5 El Casino chip. And that’s my Bahama adventure thanks for reading my post.
