I think my parents took me to Greynolds Park

for a birthday cook-out as a sort of "consolation prize." It was okay. Wow, were hamburgers really 15 cents back then? I don't remember the price but I guess it must be true. Eventually a McDonald's opened up on U.S. 1 in North Miami or North Miami Beach - but I don't remember eating there. They had big signs proudly stating the number of hamburgers sold, and it was fun to see the millions adding up every few months. Eventually it became too expensive for the chain to keep putting up higher numbers, so they cheated a bit and the signs read "Millions and Millions Sold."

Shortly after that - Submarine Sandwiches became a hit. Not sold at McDonald's nor Royal Castle, had to go to a sub shop for them.
