Not Often, But Counterfiet Chips Do Happen

The one that comes to mind is this $25 chip from the Fremont Casino in Vegas. You will notice that the inlay is a reproduction, print is blurry, and was crudely glued on to the chip, glue marks are visible at the top and on the right side. Another example that I recall is a collector who purchased a rare Atlantic City $25 chip from a dealer. Upon inspection the chip looked a little odd and the collector was able to determine that it was a counterfeit, the edge markings (inserts) had been painted on. And there are others, mostly intended to commit fraud against the casino.
