What John Chopek detailed is accurate. Atlantic City Fun Nite patrons would purchase the No Cash Value paper money for 5 cents on the dollar with all proceeds going to charity . The NCV paper money could then be exchanged on gaming tables to buy the No Cash Value chips. (A cheap way to learn how to play a game). Some properties had their casino name imprinted on the Fun Chips, including roulettes, but a few casinos used the generic chips as you show in your post.
