Dallas Illegals for sale

A couple months back I was lucky enough to find a bunch of Dallas area chips from the mid-to-late 1930s. Some of them were NEW FINDS, some of them were new colors for chips I already knew existed. For some, I was able to find enough to share, and I’ve listed some of those for sale here:

I don’t usually do a lot of selling of chips, so I don’t know how long I’ll keep this little experiment going. If interested, here is your chance to grab a couple pieces of Dallas illegal gambling history.

----------------------------------------------------------------
SOUTHLAND HOTEL

All these chips were delivered to the Southland Hotel, headquarters for Benny Binion’s Dallas gambling empire. Not only was the Southland HQ for the gang, the second floor was also a large gambling center filled with craps tables.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
SANTA PAULA HOTEL

The Santa Paula Hotel was the headquarters for Sam Murray who was a business associate of Benny Binion before he tried to double cross Benny and strike out on his own. A couple of years after ordering the above chips, Benny had Sam murdered, igniting the Dallas gambling wars that lasted a decade and claimed the lives of dozens of gangsters. Look for the story in a coming CCTN.

I have a few others I didn’t list because of the scarcity of quantity I’m not sure what to do with yet. One thing is for certain, I’m glad there is always more out there to find!
