Re: WANDERING THRU WELLS, NEVADA

Rich-I have a lot of fond memories of Wells-it was one of my favorite small towns. I remember many of the old joints that are
long gone including the Wagon Wheel, Trail 40, El Rancho, Pequop Hotel (later Old West), Ranch House, 4-Way and a couple
of places on Front Street (7th st) that were leveled by the earthquake. The Bulls Head Bar and a lot of the small clubs were closed
even in the early 70s. I wrote an article about Wells for the club magazine around 1999. I'll always remember the time I was talking to the
owner of the El Rancho asking him about old chips. We were leaning on a pool table facing the bar where a couple was drinking. They had
dropped some money on the floor (about $60) and the owner walked over to them and picked it up. I thought he was going to hand
it back to them but he stuck it in his pocket! He walked back over to me and said let's go in the basement and look around. Unfortunately
all I could find was a shopping bag full of paper poker chips. I was pretty disappointed.
