Re: New Years Resolution for the chip board

CHIP BOARD IS A OPEN FORUM BUT ABOVE COMMENTS ARE NOT GOOD FOR THE CLUB

I might point out that TCB is separate from the club, although there's no denying a strong correlation between club members and TCB members, and TCB might very well be the first time someone learns of the club in general. And I would certainly agree that if someone was interested in the hobby but the first thing they saw on a hobby-related board was a bunch of charged threads/posts not having to do with casino collectibles, they might be dissuaded.

That being said, neither the world nor the internet is my safe space. If friends here want to talk about potentially explosive subjects and there's no rules against it, I have no personal quibble with it.

This does, however, hit on one of the resaons I'd like to see TCB moved to a different forum software. Moving to a more modern platform would allow much better organization of threads so that new users can more easily navigate to what they're interested in (which, in theory, is chips and other casino collectibles) while off-topic discussions such as those on politics, religion, and the like, can still be maintained. This requires the person to post in the off-topic section of the forum, of course, but eliminates the standard of including NCR in off-topic thread titles and keeps those discussions in a less public-facing - but still very accessible - place.
