A real puzzler of an ivory chip ID

These chips appear to contain several clues. Can anyone figure it out

I see an M, J, and a C. There appears to be a bar with a padlock. The horse on the back of the white chip might indicate a horse ranch. The red chip appears to show a fighting cock (looks like a spur on each leg). Possibly the ranch owner held cock fights? Horse and cock fights certainly signifies gambling. Hence the chips

These chips were on the high end with all the intricate carving. My guess is a way high end ranch operating in the late 1800s - very early 1900s

Maybe the lock is part of his name: J McLaughlin?
